Everyone has a story to tell if you’re willing to listen. Here at Hunter Vision, that’s one of our favorite things about vision correction. Our patient stories are hard to keep to ourselves—and the best part is that they’re not unrelatable fairy-tales. They’re real experiences from real people, just like you. People like Ashley Simonds. Ashley was one of the first to get LASIK from us. We caught up with her a handful of years later to see how life’s been treating her, and how her corrected vision has altered her life. Here’s what she had to say.
Ashley recalls, “Honestly, it’s been life changing — and I’m not just saying that. Not a day goes by where I’m not thankful for my sight. Before I had LASIK, my eyesight was really, really bad. Even with contacts, I couldn't read a single letter on the eye chart. I had no idea how beautiful the world around me could be.”
“It’s been more than six years now and my vision is still just as exciting to me as it was the day after it was corrected. Every time I go to a sporting event or theater production and can see the players and performers without squinting, every time I wake up in the middle of the night with a little one and don’t have to fumble around for glasses, and every time I drive down the highway and see individual blades of grass as opposed to a green patch, I’m reminded of what a huge gift my vision is.”
“It’s not just seeing better, either. Every aspect of my life, of being a mom, is now easier and less complicated. It’s like… well, this might sound kind of weird, but it’s the only way I can explain it. It’s like buying a new pair of socks. You don’t realize how worn out your old pair of socks were until you put on your new ones — know what I mean? I felt that way with my vision correction.”
“I had no idea how much of a hassle my life was with glasses and contacts. I guess I just got used to it. Now that I’ve had LASIK, I truly feel free of that—like putting on a brand-new pair of socks. [Laughs] I joke that I’ve become a saleswoman for Hunter Vision now. When I see people with glasses I just want to grab them by the shoulders and shake them and say, ‘You have no idea what you’re missing!’”
Vision correction is more affordable than you think.
